The Aberdeen IronBirds are the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles owned by Attain Sports, operating in founders Bill Ripken and Cal Ripken, Jr.'s home town. The IronBirds are excited to offer career opportunities for new or experienced sports professionals.
The IronBirds seek a seasonal Video and Photo Camera Operator for all IronBirds home games for the upcoming season and occasional non-baseball events. The Photo / Video Camera Operator (Wireless) will capture content for consumption by IronBirds fans attending games at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, watching the IronBirds' MiLB.tv stream, and viewing the IronBirds' social media channels throughout the season, and will have a chance to learn and grow within a well-respected minor league sports environment on their way to a career in sports entertainment, production, or all of the above.
Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
- Manage our wireless camera system and assorted wireless production gear for in-game use
- Communicate with Technical Director to capture and anticipate gameday action / in-between innings content
- Assist Creative Services Director and other staff to set up, use, and strike any gameday equipment as needed
- Occasionally operate gameday production equipment including, but not limited to, DLSR photography and / or other video production equipment
- Occasional opportunities to work at non-gameday events for in-house production including but not limited to video, audio, camera and social media streaming including:
- High School Graduations
- Public IronBirds non-baseball events
- Private Events as necessary and as availability dictates
A successful candidate for the role will: - Have 1 year min of photography or equivalent photo / video camera experience preferred
- Have 1-2 years experience / training with various photo/video production equipment preferred
- Photo/video production software experience a plus
- Knowledge of baseball and rules preferred
- Work as many of the IronBirds' 66 home games as possible (school schedule permitting) beginning in April and ending in September (Time can extend based on Playoffs)
- Gladly accept any assignment offered to them to gain experience in every aspect of the business of minor league sports.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Frequently walk or stand for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in high or low temperature environments.
- Training will be available
