KE | ADL has an open Architectural Staff Level 1 position in their Honolulu office.

Description

Kent Engineering | Architectural Diagnostics is seeking full time employees at their forensic architectural and engineering office in Honolulu, HI. Applicant will work with AIA, NCARB licensed architects in the Seattle and Hawaiian Island regions. Architectural Staff Level 1 applicants shall have at least 1-6 years experience in an architectural or engineering firm. Intern Development Program (IDP) credits towards architectural licensure will be supervised and mentored by Principal and Senior level Architects. Job expectations include close collaboration with mechanical, structural, and forensic engineers. Projects are predominantly repair and revitalization of multifamily developments as well as forensic documentation for construction defect litigation. Training will be provided for the specific needs of this forensic architectural/engineering position. A background in construction is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Support Architect and Engineering Teams with architectural site inspections and drawing sets and proposal development.
  • AutoCAD LT proficient (must understand xrefs, blocks, dimstyles, text heights etc). 
  • Sketchup knowledge is a plus
  • Clear report writing skills (legal investigation and field reporting)
  • MS Word Architectural specification documentation
  • MS Excel Spreadsheet
  • Project Scheduling
  • Understanding of AIA Construction Contract
  • Field investigation abilities include hand tool use, ladder and scaffolding work, and typical Construction Contract Administration responsibilities
  • Research technical publications and literature in support of evaluations.
  • Apply architecture principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
  • Working knowledge of testing and evaluation standards
  • Review and edit forensic architectural reports stating cause and origin of damage
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Write proposals.
  • Write scopes of repair
  • Communicate project updates and timelines to staff and clients.
  • Travel locally and nationally on occasion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering
  • 1-6 years of architectural experience
  • If not licensed, working towards obtaining Architect license is preferred
  • Working knowledge of building structures and the construction process
  • Experience writing technical reports.
  • Project management experience
