Job Description
Overview: We are looking for an experienced and driven Bankruptcy Attorney to represent clients in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of bankruptcy law, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to guide clients through complex financial matters. You will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop effective strategies, and provide legal representation in both individual and corporate bankruptcy proceedings.
Responsibilities:
* Provide legal counsel to individuals and businesses on bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases
* Draft and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other required documents
* Represent clients in hearings, meetings of creditors, and court appearances
* Advise clients on debt relief options, including bankruptcy alternatives and negotiation strategies
* Conduct legal research on bankruptcy-related issues and keep up to date with changing laws
* Manage a caseload of bankruptcy clients, ensuring timely and accurate case progression
* Collaborate with other attorneys and staff within the firm to achieve client objectives
* Maintain professional relationships with clients, creditors, and other stakeholders involved in bankruptcy proceedings
Qualifications:
* Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
* Active license to practice law in Iowa
* Minimum of 6 years of experience practicing bankruptcy law (both consumer and business bankruptcy preferred)
* Strong understanding of federal and state bankruptcy laws, regulations, and procedures
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively
* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
* Client-focused with the ability to handle sensitive financial situations with compassion and professionalism
