GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this position is to obtain production materials, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner and at the best price advantage to the company.
This position starts at $50,000 per year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Source availability and terms of purchase for a wide variety of materials, components, supplies, and services. Place purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Request quotes from suppliers to acquire product/service, price, availability, and delivery date.
- Review bid proposals from vendors and make recommendations to Materials Manager.
- Administer a variety of purchasing requisitions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of purchased items, cost, delivery, performance, and inventory.
- Research defective purchased materials and work directly with the vendor, supplier, or co-workers to resolve. Develop alternatives for defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control, managers, and suppliers.
- Approve vendor invoices for payments within limits of delegated authority to meet cost and inventory goals.
- Interact with key vendors and co-workers via phone and in person to coordinate and resolve conflicts that may arise during and after the purchasing process.
- Ability to understand and maintain product item master.
- Continually seek to learn new skills and progress in level of knowledge and responsibility.
- Actively look for ways to improve processes, reduce errors, increase efficiencies, and create cost savings.
- Demonstrate effective customer service skills by openly communicating order status and conveying updates regarding extended lead times.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED - Associate degree in Business or related field preferred; equivalent business experience will be considered.
- 1-3 years of previous purchasing experience required.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills with a proven ability to interface with suppliers.
- Basic understanding or background in production planning and/or master scheduling a plus.
- Experience with MS Office products and demonstrated progressive career growth are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics (Navision)/ERP based operating systems a plus.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
- Visual acuity and ability to read small print.
- Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment.
- Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Minimal risk of exposure to unusual elements.
