About the Opportunity This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days/week in the office (Reston, VA or Malvern, PA) As a Communications Writer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping thought leadership, capturing executive voice and elevating our company story with external and internal audiences.
Our ideal candidate has a way with words; is a storyteller; can juggle, manage priorities, and is excited by a blank page; can deliver copy under deadline pressure and craft longer form messagingfrom an outline for opening remarks to keynote addresses - while being pitch perfect in a speaker's voice and cadence. This is a high-impact role where you will increase awareness of the company's products, services, thought leadership and strategy, while providing an opportunity to identify creative ways to engage with and influence industry topics.
You will serve as a key liaison between Ellucian executives and employees, customers and partners while also collaborating internally to identify and secure thought leadership opportunities and ensure consistent messaging across a variety of writing formats and vehicles.

Where you will make an impact - Writing: High-volume writing projects to include thought leadership articles, speeches, talking points, messaging, pitches, press releases and award submissions.
- Develop talking points, presentations and speaking materials, as needed.
- Form deep understanding of Ellucian's corporate strategy, industry, and competitive landscape to help shape and elevate the company's profile and reputation.
- External Speaking Opportunities: Support company-wide Speakers Bureau to manage and support external speaking opportunities.
- Creativity: Explore new vehicles and outlets to amplify company messaging and build on industry conversation with a unique and powerful perspective.
What you will bring - Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated experience in writing in the education technology space, at an industry publication or corporation.
- Reporter Instincts: Bring a journalist mindset and creative voice backed by a deep understanding of the higher education and technology space.
- Strong writing skills: Draft thought leadership articles, pitches, scripts/talking points, speaker submissions, executive quotes and other materials, as needed.
- Storytelling and creativity: Develop story ideas and thought leadership opportunities to effectively position and raise the company profile and leadership profiles of executives with external audiences.
- Clear and professional communicator with ability to navigate across all levels: Work independently and communicate effectively with senior leadership and across all areas of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills and executive presence, including experience interfacing with all levels of stakeholders.
- Team player: Coordinate with internal and external communications and social media team members to maintain communications calendar, develop content and contribute to success of the communications organization.
- Relationship Builder: Ability to collaborate across multiple business operations, including globally.
- Flexibility: Willingness to take on new assignments and support team members with a variety of projects.
