The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) is seeking an individual to direct the development, production and delivery of our strategic alliance and practice innovation programs. This role requires working closely with strategic collaborators and funders, external consultants, and GSA members to support outreach and relationship management to further the GSA mission and strategic goals. The Director of Strategic Alliances will work in collaboration with the VP of Strategic Alliances and Practice Innovation and other GSA staff to develop critical relationships with representatives from organizations who seek to advance the understanding of aging and support the GSA mission. In collaboration with a variety of communities of interest, the Director of Strategic Alliances visions, obtains funding for, and develops new products and programs to advance the mission of the Society. Candidates with gerontological experience and an understanding of vaccines with industry connections are preferred. The successful candidate will drive growth and develop new opportunities involving existing or potential new partners for the Strategic Alliances division. This involves: Directing the development and management of key relationships and alliances, including outreach, communications, strategy development, grants submissions and financial reconciliations. Representing GSA at strategic partner meetings, professional conferences and meetings with stakeholders. Maintaining proficiency in the field of gerontology, in the specialty areas of Strategic Alliances and the competitive landscape. The Director of Strategic Alliances will direct the development of grant-supported programming, in collaboration with consultants, GSA staff and members, and key opinion leaders by: Conducting research and analyses to produce summaries and other products to facilitate practice innovation. Contributing to content, material development and dissemination to support strategic partners. Directing cross-selling opportunities to increase revenue and leverage relationships to better penetrate the market. The successful candidate will coordinate engagement across the Strategic Alliances team and serve as a liaison interdepartmentally to ensure effective coordination across the GSA enterprise. This involves: Directing and developing cross-marketing of GSA offerings with assigned programs. Maintaining the strategic alliance content on the GSA learning management system, GSA Enrich and the geron.org website. Managing department planning and administrative processes. Preferred candidates will have a minimum of five years of prior related experience in an Association environment with ability to build strong strategic relationships; establish and cultivate senior-level relationships; exercise diplomacy and problem solving to work effectively under pressure. Strong project management skills, including budget/financial management, are required. The Director of Strategic Alliances must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, accomplish tasks with self-direction, and provide exemplary customer service. They should also be knowledgeable of web, print, and live program development processes. They must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, including editing/proofreading skills are required.
