Free Special Education Certification Program for General Education Teachers
Do you have an interest in teaching children with disabilities next school year? Miriam School and Learning Center helps certified general education teachers get special education certification at no cost to the teacher!
Through coaching and independent study, our teachers pass their Special Education:
Foundation Knowledge test within two to six months. Participants can work while they earn their certification. Once certified, we assign participants to full-time paid internships during the upcoming school year in schools located in St. Louis City.
During the 10-month paid internship, our teachers receive intensive mentorship by our special education expert at school and in the evening during mentorship sessions. Miriam's special education teacher-training program is free and we accept college students who will be graduating in the fall with their general education teaching degree and teachers with three or less years of general education teaching experience.
All participants must have their DESE general education certification, and with our help, a subsequent special education certificate prior to August 1, 2025 to be placed in an internship for the 2025-26 school year.
