Job Description

SUMMARY

The HCM Specialist will provide administrative, testing, payroll, time management, and reporting and analytics support across the enterprise. This role is a hands-on role leading and facilitating the optimization of the HCM to improve process efficiencies, compliance, and reporting to drive HCM value in support of business needs.

  • Serves as the primary subject matter expert for Dayforce HCM, including Core HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance, Benefits, and Talent modules.
  • Manages, tests and deploys system upgrades, enhancements and integrations, and updates planning for the HCM/Payroll platform to ensure that upgrades run seamlessly.
  • Develops and maintain SOPs, workflows, reports, dashboards, integrations, and data extracts.
  • Manages user security, permissions, and role-based access in the HCM.
  • Provides administrative support for Concur T&E solution interface.
  • Provides end-user training and support across HR, Payroll, Benefits, and other departments.
  • Collaborates with HR, IT, and Finance teams to improve business processes through system solutions.
  • Supports a multi-location payroll team with a focus on accuracy, process improvement, and compliance in a complex, multiple-site labor environment. Serves as payroll backup for various regional pay groups. Works with Payroll Specialists to optimize payroll process efficiency.
  • Liaises with Dayforce support for issue resolution, upgrades, and feature rollouts.
  • Conducts regular data/payroll audits and ensures data integrity and system compliance.
  • Maintains employee payroll data, including tax setups, PTO, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits.
  • Responds to internal business partners and employee inquiries regarding reporting, information, payroll, PTO, and deductions with professionalism and urgency.
  • Supports various reporting activities from HCM involving employee data, including but not limited to; hiring & selection, turnover, performance, pay, overtime, staffing, employee engagement, training, skills, etc…Provides analysis in Power BI when necessary.
  • Produces and distributes W-2s and other year-end payroll documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
  • Serves as the payroll liaison with Dayforce and Accounts Payable, auditing and processing payroll-related invoices.
  • Proactively partners with the IT team to support the HCM and Payroll configuration, upgrades, and business initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll, human resources, and governmental rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Must have extensive (super-user level) HCM, preferably with Ceridian/Dayforce, and payroll/time management experience supporting a complex organizational structure.
  • Deep working knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Strong proficiency with report writing and data analysis tools (ex. Dayforce Report Builder, Power BI, Excel, etc…).
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
  • Strong process orientation with ability to effectively optimize HR systems to best support business needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills with ability to professionally interact with all levels of personnel required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem solving and implementation.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human resource related documents and manage systems, extract and present data, and analysis process to solve complex business problems.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  • Possesses 5 plus years relevant HCM technology and payroll experience in a multi-state, labor union, and manufacturing/supply chain environments.
  • Dayforce HCM experience preferred.
  • Experience assessing, implementing and optimizing HCM systems and managing HR/Payroll support. Union experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, human resource, business administration or relevant discipline preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS/TRAVEL

  • Valid State Driver’s License required.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of time in and out of state to support HCM activities.

We offer a competitive salary of $80-100k. Excellent benefits which include medical, dental and vision. Eligibility in benefit plans begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Six (6) days of sick leave; two (2) weeks of vacation accrued throughout the year; nine (9) Company Paid Holidays and a 401K Plan with employer match.
