About the role

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Key Responsibilities:

• Meeting with clients, and taking instructions
• Review and analysis of records
• Drafting written communications to clients
• Briefing medical experts, and allied health professionals
• Attending court for procedural hearings
• Briefing and liaising with barristers

The experience we are looking for

We are looking for a lawyer with strong client service focus, personable approach, and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have 3+ years PAE; however, if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space, we want to hear from you. In addition, you will have:

• A valid practising certificate;
• Prior experience working within a Personal injury, Medical Negligence or Litigation environment;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust;
• An ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail;
• Excellent time management skills, and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner;
• A strong knowledge of the relevant procedural rules relevant to personal injury practice in Victoria;
• The ability to speak to clients from different backgrounds;
• A solutions-focused outlook with a proactive approach to deliver quality outcomes.
