Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately abstracting provider services into appropriate billable codes from medical documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and payer guidelines. Your work will help ensure that the services provided are properly coded for billing purposes and meet the necessary requirements set by coding ethics and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately abstract provider services (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) from medical documentation in line with the coding ethics of AAPC, AHIMA, and NAMAS, as well as payer coverage guidelines.
Post and reconcile charges in a hospital setting (IP/OP/OBS) on a daily basis.
Collaborate with providers and staff to communicate issues related to medical necessity, unspecified or truncated codes, missing or incomplete diagnoses, and incomplete documentation.
Utilize coding and payer resources to ensure accurate coding and billing of documented services.
Assist with coding denials by collaborating with the Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to create appeal letters and provide any necessary supporting documentation.
Stay current with coding and billing practices through ongoing education and access to resources such as Encoder Pro and relevant coding subscriptions.
Take on additional duties as needed to support the team.
Skills & Qualifications:

Strong experience in coding medical services (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) from clinical documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with AAPC, AHIMA, and NAMAS standards.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English. Additional language skills are a plus.
Excellent customer service skills, with a professional and courteous phone demeanor.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and efficiently meet productivity standards.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
Positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.
Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and/or coding.
Certifications in Medical Billing and Coding (AAPC, AHIMA) are highly desirable.

Salary: $ 21.00 29.00 Per Hour
