Job Details

• General Information: Beds: 12 postpartum, 4 LDRs, Will you accept a traveler with 1 year experience? Yes – in L&D, Will you accept a first-time traveler? yes
• Patient Types: 35 weeks and greater will be delivered – will occasionally deliver earlier – will stabilize and ship, Antepartum, Labor and Delivery and Postpartum, Gestational HTN, Preeclampsia, Eclampsia, Multiples, Cord Prolapse, Diabetes – if Insulin drips are required will transfer out, Drug addiction/NAS babies – roughly 20-30% YTD, Newborn Nursery RN will attend all deliveries and be responsible for Neonate
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 2 in Labor and Delivery and 1:6 Postpartum mothers
• Skills required: Labor RN will not circulate C-sections – they will stay in the OR to collect blood gas samples but OR team will do delivery and recovery, The ability to independently manage OB outpatients, Rule out labor, Pitocin titration and Magnesium Sulfate administration, Management of Gestational Hypertension, Management of postpartum hemorrhage
• Support on the Unit: CNA: Generally, CNA’s are present Monday – Friday and do help to clean patients after delivery/setup for deliveries, Charge nurse: 1 charge nurse that carries a patient load, Resource Nurse House Supervisor, RT in the building at all times, Hospitalist yes, in house
• Floating: If yes, where? Yes, out to the postpartum unit
• Orientation: Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Education department, L&D – 3 days of Orientation – dependent on experience and skillset

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Fetal monitoring, NRP
• Charting System: Cerner Community Works

Schedule Information

• Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other, three night weekends, Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? Only if low census, Holiday Expectations: cover a 6-hour shift on either Christmas eve night or Christmas day.

• Unit Details: Family Birthing Center specializing in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum care
