Moore Engineering Inc is seeking an intern within the environmental group. This position will assist with data collection, reporting and other duties related to wetland permitting, water quality monitoring, and other services. This position will be supervised by senior scientists and provide an opportunity for those pursuing careers in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Science, Water Resources Engineering, Soils, Biology, or Botany related fields.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in conducting field work related to wetlands permitting, water quality sampling and other data collection needs
• Completes necessary data collection and entry utilizing appropriate methods under supervision
• Assists in technical report writing
• Utilizes ArcGIS and other data software to complete assignments
• Points out potential problems to the senior staff
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of a high school/GED diploma
• Must be pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Science, Water Resources Engineering, Soils, Biology, or Botany related fields
• Completed coursework in at least two or more of the following: environmental science, wetlands, soils, biology, fisheries/wildlife biology, natural resources, geology, agriculture, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
• Experience completing field-based science assessments and data collection is a plus.
• Ability to follow and carry out specific instructions on an independent basis
• Basic understanding of ArcGIS software and ESRI ArcMap programs. Must have valid driver's license and be insurable
• Ability to perform physical work (i.e. strenuous walking, lifting 50+ pounds Catch Basin grates and MH covers, hauling equipment, etc.)
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Must be willing and able to travel within ND, SD, MN or other states as necessary
• Must be willing to travel overnight on occasion
• Must be able to work hours up to 12 hours per day when indicated
