The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) has established the Advanced Technology Innovation Pipeline (ATIP) to deliver revolutionary improvements in cost savings, time-to-market, fleet availability, and reactor performance to the US Navy by evaluating and developing new technologies. The Applied Informatics unit in the ATIP organization is seeking an engineer to accelerate the development and deployment of digital engineering practices, including efforts to integrate modeling and sensing to improve the quality and quantity of data available to improve reactor plant performance, develop alternate or optimized plant operations or maintenance programs, and reduce reactor plant size or cost.
The successful candidate will collaborate extensively within Applied Informatics and across organizational boundaries within NNL. They will be responsible for performing market research, performing proof of principle analyses, and planning and executing research and development tasks leveraging internal resources and external subcontracts in one or more of the following technology areas:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or a PhD degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
